For eighteen generations, samurai of the Shiba Clan have suppressed the evil intentions of the Gedoushu, malevolent spirits that enter the world of the living from gaps between buildings and other structures. Now, Takeru Shiba, the youngest head of the Shiba Clan must gather his four vassals in order to battle the Gedoushu under the revived Doukoku Chimatsuri as the Shinkengers.
Takeru Shiba, the 18th head of the Shiba Clan, must gather together his four retainers to become Shinkenger to face against the return of the Gedoushu and their leader, Dokoku Chimatsuri.
Takeru's new retainers show difficulties in adjusting to their new lives as Shinkenger as another Ayakashi attack forces them to learn the rules of their master.
Tired of both training and Takeru, Chiaki decides to return to his former life, only to discover the burden he bares in what he must do as a samurai when targeted by an Ayakashi.
As the other Shinkenger relax, Takeru trains in increasing his Mojikara in order to use a beetle-themed Secret Disk, which becomes necessary against an Ayakashi their swords can't cut.
Ryunosuke is sent to catch the Marlin Origami living in the wild, where he must work with a jaded fisherman to save his team from a poisonous Ayakashi.
Chiaki and Hikoma reach their breaking point and must come to a new understanding after Shinken Green is passed over to assist in creating Daitenkuu, a new Origami formation.
The Shinkenger learn the truth regarding Doukoku's previous defeat and his hatred for the Shiba Clan as he sends out his most powerful Ayakashi while both are intercepted by the eye of Juzo Fuwa.
After his failures against Ushirobushi, Takeru leaves the mansion to wander, forcing him to rediscover the connection between himself and his retainers.
